THE GOODNESS OF GOD
Colored Pencil on Paper

I have always wanted to illustrate these passages in scripture. Moses' request to see God's glory in the book of Exodus may have been one of utter desperation as much as desire. The Lord had just commanded Him to take the Israelites to the land promised to them, but says initially, that He will not go with them. Moses is extremely worried about this. In their conversation, as one talks with a friend, Moses pleads with the Lord to go with them and the Lord, changing His mind from before, agrees. This is such a picture of humility shown by the Lord. It shows that for thousands of years God has wanted a real relationship with His people, not just to rule with a rod of iron. Moses then asks God to show him His glory, the out-shining of His presence, and amazingly the Lord says:

"I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence...."

What a treasure... to see the goodness of God pass in front of him. May we request the same from the Lord and be changed by His presence. Hope you enjoy the image. If interested, the rest of this scene is found in Exodus 33:12-34:14. Blessings!
